DECISIONS

First of all, I would like to share with you the greatness of this picture.  Please meet Barney Smith.  He is 91 years old and has a very strange (aka AWESOME) hobby--decorating toilet seat lids! The one pictured here is Japanese themed.  My friends, Ally, Melanie, Logan, and myself met and worked with each other when we lived in Japan.  We told Barney this fact and he asked us to sign it! I think I can speak on behalf of all of us that we felt very honored!!! I know that a piece of my heart was left in that country and I will ALWAYS have a strong connection to Japan so this moment was truly special!

Ok, take a few minutes to be jealous of my friends and I..........alright, get over it and just go visit him in San Antonio! Here is a website with some more info http://www.unusualmuseums.org/toilet/  Seriously, CHECK IT OUT! And just to let you know, that website is somewhat outdated, he has decorated over 1,000 toilet seats now! One more thing, you can find my name on the New Mexico themed seat as well!

So, now to the real reason for this post: DECISIONS! For those of you that know me and know me well, I absolutely despise making decisions! So much so that I have created systems within my life to avoid having to decide.  For example, picking my clothes to wear... I have created a system in my closet so that I do not have to choose what to wear.  Instead, I just choose whatever is to the farthest right of my closet, if it is appropriate for the occasion of course.  Then, when I do laundry I put my clothes to the farthest left.  It really works, and then I don't have to worry about wearing the same thing over and over again and being known as the girl that always wears that one outfit.  Ok, weird, I know! But it works for me! I won't share with you any of the other strange OCD systems I have created for myself because I think you get the picture, but I just simply want you to know about the fact that I don't like to decide things.

This characteristic of mine does make life somewhat complicated especially when it comes to making life decisions such as: what to do after graduation.  I graduate May 10! SO CLOSE! All of the big decisions I have made in the past have been made off of a whim.  Perfect example here would be teaching in Japan.  That was the only place I applied after graduating from my undergrad, I'm sure glad I got it!! If I have too many options I tend to freak out, so only providing myself with one really awesome option is the best! However, I do not think that this next chapter in my life will elicit this type of opportunity.  Only time will tell! Whatever decision I make, I hope that I am as happy as Barney Smith is in his old age.  Every step he took in his life led him to where he is now.  From talking with him those few short hours, I don't think he has any regrets! I don't want my life to be filled with regrets either.  Now I know everything may not go my way, but let's just view those situations as learning opportunities.

Remember, SOMEDAY IS TODAY! Start making the decisions that will enable you to follow your dreams!! (I am speaking to myself here, too)

Another thing, go visit Barney! You will not regret it!
